The Heart / Will Center.

Willpower and self-worth

The Heart (or Will / Ego) Center is the small triangle to the right of the G. It's both a motor and a center of willpower and self-worth. About 37% of charts have a defined Heart; 63% have it open.

What it governs.

The Heart governs willpower, commitment, and the felt sense of self-worth. A defined Heart can promise and deliver because the engine of commitment is internal. An open Heart has variable willpower and is vulnerable to over-committing to prove worth.

Defined

Consistent willpower. You can promise and deliver because the engine of commitment is internal. Worth is not in question.

In plain terms

Reliable willpower and self-worth. They make commitments and keep them; they hold the financial/material stakes of the business with confidence. Deploy them for: tough negotiations, holding the team accountable, owning the P&L.

Open

Variable willpower. The shadow is over-committing to prove your worth — saying yes from a place of needing to be valued rather than wanting the thing.

In plain terms

Variable willpower. The leak is over-committing to prove their worth — they'll say yes to too much, then resent the load. The single most useful question to ask them: 'Is this a real yes, or are you trying to prove something?' Treat their commitments with extra care.

Wisdom in this opening

Wisdom is in noticing the proving. The work is already worthy. The proof was never the point.

Health and shadow.

The most consequential open-center risk in the chart. Open Hearts often say yes from a place of needing to be valued, then resent the load. The work is to notice the proving — the work was already worthy; the proof was never the point.

How to recognize it in others.

Defined: keeps commitments reliably; comfortable with stakes and accountability. Open: over-commits to prove worth; characteristic question to ask is 'is this a real yes, or are you trying to prove something?'

Frequently asked questions.

Is open Heart a weakness?

No. Open centers are not weaknesses — they're laboratories. Where you absorb the energy of others, where conditioning lands, and where, over time, you become wise. Most of the deepest insight in the world comes from people with open centers who've learned to distinguish what's theirs from what's borrowed.

Can I have a defined Heart and not feel it?

Yes — defined centers operate consistently in the background and may not be conscious. The signature feedback loop is what reveals whether you're operating in alignment with the broadcast. The center is always on; whether you're using it well is the variable.
